Thomas Gehrig writes at klassik.com about the soloist&#8217;s &#8216;inspired phrasing&#8217; and a well-coordinated interplay with the orchestra: &#8220;&#8230; the Tonk\u00fcnstler vividly depict the extravagant dynamics. Rich strings are just as convincing as voluminous, homogeneous tutti. (&#8230;) Kitajenko emphatically confirms the short but violent orchestral outburst, while the solo voice sensitively models the lush cantilenas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the intermission Dmitrij Kitajenko conducted excerpts from Tchaikovsky&#8217;s Nutcracker. &#8220;Very rarely, after a brilliant harp solo, does one hear an &#8216;evergreen&#8217; such as the &#8216;Flower Waltz&#8217; \u00a0in such a slender and dynamic playing.
