On July 6, 7 and 8 Dimitri Kitaenko conducted three concerts in Berlin with the local Konzerthausorchester. In the Tagesspiegel, Frederik Hanssen wrote enthusiastically about the “rhythmic refinement” in Stravinsky’s ‘The Fairy’s Kiss and “grand emotions” in excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s opera Iolanta. According to the critic, Kitaenko concluded the concert with Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony “as portrait of an era”. The audience acclaimed the concert and celebrated Dimitri Kitaenko, characterised as “profound interpreter of Russian music” by Felix Stephan in the Morgenpost.
With these three concerts Maestro Kitaenko ended his activity as the Principal Guest Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester, but he will continue to conduct the orchestra in future, and the next production is scheduled for January, 2018.
